Jessie Gao is a Landscape designer with an interdisciplinary approach to design and research, believing that human connections and perceptions are the keys to positive change.
She is interested in and capable of doing a range of design and creative practices: including experiences in landscape design, architecture, interior design, video, and installation art; while studying mathematics, philosophy, engineering, anthropology, etc. Making, learning, and adapting are key parts of Jessie's practice, while she keeps challenging existing ways of expressing and communicating ideas.
Jessie believes that the role of a designer is essentially communication. We synthesise research, or information from the clients, the engineers and specialists, and the site, and develop new connections and ways of seeing from them. Then the ideas, carrying the understandings, are communicated between all the people involved with the visual or sensorial method, which allows people, other living things, and places to thrive and evolve together.
